Colorful Fundraiser to Benefit Refugees

"All Are Welcome" Mini Quilts
I've been thinking a lot about the meaning of home these days, especially as I read about how many people are displaced, deported, and otherwise forced to leave a place where they have roots and deep connections.
Horrified by the cruelty of ICE, and feeling helpless, I’ve created (so far) almost two dozen 4” x 6” mini quilts, each one mounted on heavy 8” x 10” watercolor paper, to fit a standard frame. The theme is “All Are Welcome. Each piece is unique and suggests, with different degrees of abstraction, a home, doorway or window, with the idea that everyone deserves a safe, beautiful place to live and call home. A single piece is perfect for a small wall, but they also work well as a group, suggesting a colorful, welcoming village.
The price is $75.00 each, with 25% going to benefit Ithaca Welcomes Refugees.
They will be available at Ithaca's State of the Art Gallery from Sept. 4 through Sept 28th. They will also be available during the first weekend of the Greater Ithaca Art Trail, when my studio will be open to the public on October 11 and 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
